About MeMy name is Shane Oberle and I am a reading specialist at Bridge Point Elementary. I have the great privilege of being Mom to my twin 19-year-old boys Alex and Sam and wife to my amazing husband Michael. We live an interesting life as boarding faculty at Saint Stephen's School right down the road from Bridge Point. My boys are headed to college this fall so we will be "empty nesters" for the first time! We enjoy hiking, geocaching, and playing board games as a family. Michael and I also enjoy cycling on all of the great trails around Austin. In my limited free time you will find me reading, knitting, or quilting. We are definitely busy!
I have been a part of the Eanes School District for over 15 years. I started as a Substitute Teacher at Bridge Point when my twin boys entered Kindergarten, moved to a full time Teacher's Aide position, and now I am the Dyslexia Specialist and one of 4 Campus Support Specialists for Bridge Point. While I was in college to obtain my teaching degree, I taught at an amazing childcare center in New Haven, Connecticut. We were a group of teachers that believed learning begins in the first days of life, and we based our teaching on the “Theory of Multiple Intelligences” by Howard Gardner. I was inspired by the ways that each child responded to different intelligences. These experiences led me to believe that we must constantly work to find the best way to reach every child. I love this process and cherish the days when a child finally "gets it" for the first time! |
